This is an unpaid position that focuses on the daily care of sick, injured, or orphaned wildlife at the Texas State Aquarium’s Wildlife Rescue Program. This internship will have a strong focus on understanding wildlife husbandry, as well as an introduction to wildlife medicine. Interns can expect to gain hands-on experience with diet preparation and feeding, medical care, and enclosure maintenance. Interns will also have the opportunity to assist with rescues and releases.
Experience Required
Must be 18 years old or older and possess a valid Driver’s License. Interns must be able to work outdoors and in inclement weather, as well as in confined spaces and around loud noises. Interns must be able to lift at least 40lbs, and be able to climb stairs and ladders. Preference will be given to currently enrolled college students or recent graduates with a major in Marine Biology, Biology, Marine Science, Ecology, or a strong interest in veterinary medicine.
